Finally, after all this time of playing PC games and getting to know many people, there are those that want to step out of the Counterstrike territory and get into other games like Call of Duty 4. I know that the biggest factor in which people aren't moving to other, more modern games is that the majority doesn't have the equipment to play the modern games correctly. So, that is why I'm going to fill this part of the forums up with my game reviews (very similar to what I've done for NcB and their forums).

Also, this website: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest should help you guys figure out what games you can play and not play. It will also help you decide on what to upgrade and so forth.

So again, I'm glad to hear that Sandro's gonna make a leap out of Counterstrike territory and into other games. I just can't wait 'til I finally get my challenge with ya RpG. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

F.E.A.R is quite possibly one of the best games ever made for the PC. This game pretty much has it all: Furious gunfights? Check. Intelligent AI? Check. Destructible environments? Check. Scary scenes that'll scare the shit outta ya? Check. Awesome ways to kill your enemies? Double check. Even with all the goodies, Fear does have a few misses. For starters, the game is a resource hog (for those that don't have a decent system), the enemies get repetitive, and the environment doesn't change all that much. Still, if you're looking for a game with great graphics, fast and furious gun action, and intelligent, challenging AI, then Fear is for you.

    Minimum game requirements:
O/S: Windows XP/2000 with ALL service packs
Processor: Pentium 4 1.7 ghz or equivalent
    RAM: 512mb
    5gb of hard drive space
    64mb GeForce 4 Ti or Radeon 9000

Story: F.E.A.R revolves around a team who's called in to investigate a paranormal threat in the form of a little girl in a red dress. You play a character known only as Point Man who's born with supernatural reflexes. The story is one of the strong points of Fear. The FPS genre doesn't usually have a great story line to backup the gameplay. But Fear does it nicely and effectively.

Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is just brilliant and very addictive. Gunfights are challenging and will give veteran FPS players something to look forward to. You have the slow-mo effect (aka Bullet Time from the Matrix) to help you slow down everything and aim accurately and dodge enemy fire effectively. The AI isn't your average cardboard-like CZ bots where they just wander around getting stuck and shit. No, these bots will try everything to kick your ass and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING. They'll knock down stuff for cover, toss nades at you if they can't get a clear shot, flank, sneak, etc. Weapons are plentiful and fun to mess around with (shotgun FTW). Basically, this game's gameplay is one of THE best features in a PC game.

Graphics: Graphics in this game are great and have a great texture to them. The physics are outstanding and can sometimes play a bit quirky. For example, I could kill a soldier with my pistols and his body would go up around 8 ft. in the air. Not a complaint really but it's an eye-popping sight. The environment is very destructible to weapon fire. Dust will puff out when bullets hit walls, bodies will stick to walls if you manage to kill them with the nail gun, ragdoll effects are very good in here. However, to get the best graphics, you'll need a graphics card capable of playing this game at max with 60 frames per second.

Sound: The sounds in this game really add more to the creepy feeling of Fear and will sometimes make you jump. Sounds are so good that even a rolling coke can will make you jump. No joke, it happened to me once. The sounds and the creepy environment all mesh together well to create the dark, scary world of Fear.

Misc: Another gripe with Fear is that the multiplayer isn't all that innovative from other FPS games. You have your deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF, and a couple of others that I can't think of right now but you have played them in other FPS games. But Fear's strong point isn't multiplayer but in singleplayer story mode. From the way I see it, people play Fear mainly for the scary stuff it provides. It gives you that creepy, "under your skin" vibe.

    Overall:

    Pros:
    - Great story
    - Superb firefights and plenty of action
    - Awesome graphics and physics
    - Smart AI
    - Superb sound
    - Creepy and scary environment
    - Platinum edition contains all 3 Fear games for 29.99

    Cons:
    - Computer resource hog
    - AI can act stupid sometimes
    - Mostly the same enemies throughout the game
    - Environment doesn't change much neither.

    My score:
    5/5
